Will Memorial Day 2011 be the last one that we have? Will Memorial Day 2011 be the last one where “we the people” have the freedom to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice? Will “we the people” still hold the freedom that so many shed blood for in 2012 and earlier? I am not so sure.
Our nation was founded on a few simple truths, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”
Today in our nation we have let ourselves stray far from where we started; we have cut out the GOD given right to life, we have had much of our personal liberty torn from us by an over bearing self-serving government and that has stolen, at last, the GOD-given right to pursue happiness.
Now one of the core beliefs this nation was founded on is threatened like never before. The freedom of Religion is under assault on a daily basis. The ACLU uses our very laws meant to protect our freedom against us and does all it can to remove from all public places any sign of religion. They have fought to get the cross removed from the war memorial in the Mojave Desert; they fight to have the 10 Commandments removed from Public property; and of course we cannot have prayer in school. The ACLU is one of the chief proponents of the downfall of our nation and it uses our own laws to destroy what was meant to protect us.
Our nation was built on the freedom of religion not the freedom from religion. Our founding fathers were not perfect men by any stretch but they were men of great faith. They knew that without a basic belief and adherence to basic Biblical morality we would fall. Today that very foundation is under assault from those on the far left and also the Anarchist on the far right.
We are a government of the People and when the people lose their Basic biblical morality so will our nation. If one will take an honest look about history one can see that as we have strayed from our moral foundation we have simultaneously declined as a nation. In 1954 the government gave churches the ability to become 501c3’s and be tax exempt. By doing this the churches gave up their rights to be politically active, 1962 the US supreme Court made it first an assault on prayer in tax funded schools, in 1973 the US supreme Court redefined life so we could kill babies without violating anyone’s rights. What about the rights of the unborn?
As all this was going on what was happening to our American Culture? Marital infidelity and divorce started to rise and today is an acceptable part of our society. Without the moral foundations our youth became more susceptible to drugs and alcohol. Now today those kids are teaching our kids and the slide to moral depravity and the decline of our nation is so fast that I wonder if we can stop it and turn this ship around?
Memorial Day is a day to honor those who loved our nation so much that they laid down their lives for us here at home and for the cause of freedom around the world. America is the last hope for many nations in the world. Our freedom inspires many around the world and if our light goes out who will be left standing up for the cause of freedom?
Last week the Obama administration made another assault on all of us and all those who died for the cause of freedom when the Director of the Houston National Cemetery, Arleen Ocasio, told Pastor Rainey to submit his prayer before the ceremony so she could be sure it was acceptable to her and the Obama Administration and then responded back to him prohibiting him to use the word Jesus in his prayer. I thank GOD that that there are still a few courageous organizations like the Liberty Institute and the Harris County Republican Party Chairman Jared Woodfill who are willing to stand up and fight back against all those who are Anti-Christ . Without those few we would have less freedom today.
So as you remember those who died for all our freedom, also remember all those in the military and those here at home who are willing to continually stand in the gap for all of us!
