“Congress looking at lawmaker’s insider trading” Having Congress investigate itself and reform itself is like asking a rapist to oversee the DNA lab!
Seems to me that for years we have been electing leaders to represent us in both parties and they get to office having a small net worth, but they leave office among America’s wealthiest individuals. They become part of the “hated” 1%. The difference between the rich 1% in elected office and the 1% in the private sector is how they each got there.
In private business, in order to get the top 1% they need to have an idea, they need to market that idea; they need to sacrifice personal time and money to develop and work with that idea or product. They need to become the best at what they do and when they need help they hire employees to help them. This helps them become wealthy and it helps the employees feed their families. My employer so far is not one of the top 1% but I am sure happy that I have a job and I will do all that I can to help him get there. And throughout the process of business and making a profit all in the private sector need to be careful to follow all the laws of these United States or face prosecution and the consequences of breaking those laws.
The wealthy are susceptible to lawsuits from gold diggers, shysters, and many who wish to profit without first making the effort that those who are more wealthy have undertaken. and the more wealthy they become, the more time and money they spend just protecting themselves from the greed of the less desirable in this world. Congress has the ability to help the law suit abuse by passing tort reform but since it does not personally benefit them this will not be done.
In elected office, to get to the 1% club you need to do nothing but get elected. Once there you are free to use insider information for you own personal gain. Martha Stewart was sent to prison and Congress does this on a daily basis and is above the laws they themselves have created for “We the people”.
Congress does not create any jobs, they do not create wealth. They do nothing but choke off what growth the private sector attempts to make. They regulate the private sector out of business and use their influence to get to the top 1%.
No wonder that Congressional approval numbers are in the single digits. They say they want to investigate if there is anything going on? They want to make rules prohibiting this? PULLLEASE, they know what is going on; they are all profiting from insider trading, using their positions and the knowledge they have to illegally make profit. If the elected really want to impress me and get me to trust them, I would like to see them pursue this issue with the same vigor they pursue others whom they do not like. I want action, not words; I want to see prosecutions. I want to see Nancy Pelosi in the hot seat, along with the others from both parties that have taken advantage of all of us. They restrict our freedoms by making laws and regulations and then they do not apply the laws they saddle on us to themselves. It is about time this stop! Won’t you join me in contacting your congressman and letting them know that you want to see reform in this area, and you want it applied to them?
