Senator McCain’s recent attack on Michelle Bachman was ill advised and inaccurate. Representative Bachman raised a valid national security issue by identifying the Muslim Brotherhood’s increasing influence in U.S. politics. Setting aside whether or not Ms. Abedin is directly involved in the Brotherhood’s rise, make no mistake; the Muslim Brotherhood has no interest in preserving the U.S. as a Constitutional Republic.
Apparently Senator McCain’s head has been buried in Arizona sand if he is unaware of the Brotherhood’s political involvement. Does John recall Secretary of State Clinton and President Obama accorded the Muslim Brotherhood de facto recognition earlier this year by endorsing the Brotherhood as a legitimate party to Egyptian elections while allowing them entree into U.S. politics?
Perhaps the senator is not familiar with the stated objectives of the Muslim Brotherhood: a worldwide Caliphate under Sharia Law. The Brotherhood has a strong ally in the well-established and financed Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR). Two CAIR officials were named as unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation trial where, following 9/11, U.S. courts found HLF guilty of supporting terrorist causes. However, Attorney General Holder terminated an ongoing Justice Department investigation of the two CAIR officials in 2011 before the case could be brought to trial.
The Obama Administration has appointed CAIR members to security positions in the Department of Homeland Security. CAIR members are joined by Muslim Brotherhood members in rewriting U.S. security training to eliminate terms offensive to Muslims, e.g. “Jihad”, “Islamic militants”, “terrorism”.
So — if as NPR insinuated, McCain, in effect, asked Bachman, “Have you no sense of decency?” — Michelle might well ask: “Have you no concern for national security?” To this observer, Bachman has more decency than McCain has concern for national security.
