Hobby Lobby Takes A Stand For Religious Liberty

When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God’s word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.

We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do.

Should The Republican Party Grant Amnesty In-order To Grow The Base

Everyone knows that the 2012 elections are over, and Obama was once again elected to serve as our commander in chief. Many have been playing the Monday Moring Quarterback and have been telling Republicans why they did not have the BIG win everyone on the Republican side was hoping for.

One of the most talked about reasons for the defeat was the Republican opposition of Immigration reform. For the record, Republicans have not been against immigration, but do oppose illegal immigration and while I understand that the Hispanic population is growing and will become the dominant demographic soon, I personally believe we should not go after a vote based on race. In my opinion, we should leave race out of it and build our relationships on the values we share and have in common with people of ALL races.

Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor– and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be

Israel Has Shown Extraordinary Restraint Until Now

The Israeli government has shown extraordinary restraint until now. Over 1500 rockets have been fired at Israel from Gaza in 2012. Over 745 rockets hit Israel since the start of the operation on November 14, an average of 10 per hour or 1 every 6 minutes. Hamas escalated rocket fire into Israel has fired for the first time against Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, hitting an uninhabited area outside of the cities. No government would tolerate such horrific attacks on their citizens.

Hamas deliberately targets Israeli civilians while shooting from within populated areas, including near mosques, hospitals and schools. We are doing our utmost to protect civilian life in Gaza,

Wounded Warrior Project Exposes Their Anti-Gun and Anti-Religious Policies

The Wounded Warrior Project helps returning service members adjust to home life after returning home from war with physical and psychological injuries. This organization is one that I have supported personally, and their mission is one that is close to the heart of everyone at The Patriot Statesman.

Recent emails from Leslie Coleman, The Wounded Warrior Project’s public relations director, showed a very different side of the organization that many have found quite shocking.

These emails were exposed by gun writer and television host Tom Gresham. Gresham invited The Wounded Warrior Project onto his television show, Gun Talk, to help increase awareness and support fundraising for the WWP organization. Leslie declined to be on Gresham’s show, indicating that The Wounded Warrior Project “does not co-brand, create cause marketing campaigns or receive a percentage or a portion of proceeds from companies in which the product or message is sexual, political or religious in nature, or from alcohol or firearms companies.”
