As the Obama administration and their fellow party members across the country push to restrict your second amendment rights, many people feel helpless as they watch their elected officials push the limits of their oath of office.
We see state legislators requiring special background checks to buy a box of ammunition. We see long lists of useful and popular firearms banned due to their color or cosmetic features. We see legislators trying to add gun owners to a database that can be tracked, just like sex offenders. Forced buy back confiscation plans proposed. The list goes on and on.
Although we would never blame an entire religion of people due to the acts of a few crazed killers on 9/11, the Obama administration is set on punishing an entire nation of law abiding gun owners for the acts of a few mentally ill murderers. This unprecedented attack on our constitutional rights is enough to overwhelm many Americans, but there are beacons of hope out there – local law enforcement officials that are willing to stand up and defend us.
The final line of defense for any community is their local Sheriffs Office, and this week a bold new sheriff from Austin County Texas put out a statement promising that he will keep his oath of office and protect his citizens from unconstitutional federal laws and agencies sent to enforce them.
Sheriff Jack Brandes‘ press release was titled “The Constitution Of The United States Of America and Your Second Amendment Rights” that said the following:
I, Jack W. Brandes, Sheriff of Austin County, will defend the Constitution of The United States of America until there is not a breath left in my body. As Sheriff, I will not allow any agency to come into Austin County and unlawfully disarm law abiding citizens or impose any unlawful unconstitutional orders upon our citizens. I, as Sheriff, will take every measure necessary to protect you and all law abiding citizens of Austin County. – Sincerely, Jack W. Brandes
Sheriff Brandes, and the dozens of other Sheriffs across our nation that have opposed Obama’s unconstitutional agenda are true leaders, and I hope that their brave actions are followed by many other sheriffs throughout the country.
Their support will give hope to millions of Americans that know that if a government fears it’s citizens enough to strip their second amendment rights, they will just as easily take away their fourth and first amendment rights soon after. The second amendment is one of the cornerstones of our free constitutional republic and should never be destroyed.
