Common Sense Immigration Reform

There is no question that America has a range of difficult problems facing her; the economy, unemployment, Social Security, Medicare, and healthcare are pushing our great country to the brink. However, there is an underlying problem which is a contributing factor to all of these problems – illegal immigration.

The U.S. Government estimates that there are between 8 to 12 million illegal immigrants currently residing within our borders but independent studies have shown that number is significantly higher. The Californians for Population Study (CAPS) released a report by four leading immigration experts who believe that there is somewhere between 20 to 38 million illegal aliens in America[i]. Given the federal government’s penchant for under grossly underestimating numbers, there is a significant likelihood that the CAPS figure is closer to being accurate than the government’s estimate.

“This Is The Way We Do It In Texas”

When a natural disaster stikes, people generally turn to the government for assistance. During the horrible fire that ravaged the Texas counties of Montgomery, Grimes, and Waller, we saw the opposite. Communities banded together to take care of each other in a way that is truly rare.

When FEMA rolled in to take over the fire fighting operations, the local community clashed with the government representatives and forced them to stay out of their way.

I was present and saw the hard work that the local citizens put in first hand, and I recently received an email which documents the generous efforts put forth by a community that preferred to take care of their own:

A significant event has escaped serious media coverage. Few are aware that, despite his posturing on deepwater drilling, President Obama has sunk billions of American taxpayer dollars into Petrobras, a nascent Brazilian oil exploration company. Considering that President Obama consistently alleges deepwater drilling to be unsafe, this turn of events seems the ultimate ethical contradiction. Moreover, it appears that President Obama coordinated this taxpayer-funded investment with a large stock acquisition by leftist billionaire and valued campaign-contributor George Soros. Combined with Obama’s virulent attack on the US oil sector, culminating in a highly illegal ban on drilling, it would appear that Obama is misappropriating government funds to enrich a campaign financier, and possibly himself, with taxpayer dollars.

Ted Cruz Leads The Field At The Clear Lake Tea Party’s Senate Job Interview

Clear Lake, TX – The Clear Lake Tea Party (CLTP) in conjunction with the Alliance of Constitutional Patriots, and several other area Tea Party groups held the first ever job interview for the U.S. Senate.

The venue for the event was the Bayou Theater on the University of Houston’s Clear Lake Campus. The event was also streamed online so people could watch from the comfort of their home or office.

There are sixteen potential Republican or Libertarian candidates seeking to replace the retiring Kay Bailey Hutchison in the U.S. Senate. Event organizers said that invitations were extended to all candidates plus the candidates were asked to sign the CLTP pledge card as well. Only six candidates were willing to sign the pledge: former Solicitor General Ted Cruz, Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert,

The Response Rally – The Only Thing Political About It Was The Media Covering It

Houston, TX – There was a smattering of protesters greeting attendees of the Response Rally in Houston, Texas on Saturday. No more than two or three dozen by my estimation compared to more than 25,000 who flocked to Reliant Stadium to pray for a nation in crisis.

The majority of the protesters were there in support of gay marriage. There were also a few people who were protesting for separation of church and state and, of course, there were a few atheists protesting God knows what.

A representative from Americans United for a Separation of Church and State was passing out a press release from their leader, Reverend Barry Lynn that asserts that Governor Perry is not recognizing “America’s wide spiritual diversity.”
