I Agree With Ron Paul

Well there are a few things in my life I never thought I would hear myself say. There are many areas with which I strongly disagree with Ron Paul, but Ron does have areas within his platform with which I can agree. Mainly, I can agree with his views on our nation’s monetary policy.

Although I can agree that our nation should be more selective in what we do and how we act in regards to helping other nations I do not share his isolationist views.

But Ron Paul is dead-on when he says that we live in a police state and anyone who disagrees, to be blunt, is just blind to reality. There is nothing that we do or say that is not being monitored by “Big Brother.”  The Whitehouse is tracking Social Media for so-called extremist propaganda and the military can now “Illegally” hold US citizens that are “suspected” American terrorists without due process, indefinitely

The White House is signing off on a controversial new law that would authorize the U.S. military to arrest and indefinitely detain “alleged” al Qaeda members or other terrorist operatives captured on American soil.

I am all for getting anyone off the streets that is a terrorist but who are they looking at as being a terrorist? Those who oppose Obama’s reelection?  Am I considered a threat to Obama? I do not have the trust in our nation’s leaders enough to give them unilateral power to take Americans off the street without due process. This to me sounds like Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, not the United States of America.  As has been explained in depth in previous posts on Patriot Statesman the subjective nature of the word “terrorist” makes it possible to detain anyone, even innocent civilians, depending on who is doing the defining.

In a perfect example of just how this newfound power could be misapplied, well respected US Senator Rand Paul was detained today by the TSA for not allowing himself to be mistreated like so many Americans are every day.  This is not America!

Ron Paul had this to say on the situation:

One of the ultimate embodiments of this is the TSA that gropes and grabs our children, our seniors, and our loved ones and neighbors with disabilities.  The TSA does all of this while doing nothing to keep us safe. That is why my ‘Plan to Restore America,’ in addition to cutting $1 trillion dollars in federal spending in one year, eliminates the TSA.

We do live in a police state and I hope with the removal of Barack Hussein Obama will be a good start on the road to recovery of our beloved nation.

So when Ron say bring everyone home and have and leave our friends to fend for themselves he is not an Isolationist?

You say “He is a non-interventionist.” That is the same as being an isolationist. But feel free to redefine words if it make you feel better..

I have a lot of the same generalizations and ideas that you do on Ron Paul. I do believe, however, that some of his more controversial positions render him unelectable. Thanks for the post. Check me out a http://www.mostly-right.com
